KRILL - THE TINY GIANT

Krill are pelagic crustaceans that mainly consume phytoplankton and some zooplankton and are in turn a major source of food for many larger marine animals. Although krill reside in all oceans, the Antarctic Krill species (Euphausia superba) is found exclusively in the Southern Ocean.

What is krill oil?

A SUPERIOR SOURCE OF OMEGA-3

Krill oil is extracted from Antarctic Krill and is considered to be one of the best sources of omega-3 for our body. Antarctic krill have a very high content of polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA, which have been proven in numerous studies across several decades to have health benefits in many areas. Oil produced from krill has been clinically tested for the past two decades and was found to be beneficial to our health.
Krill oil is a natural complex of Marine Phospholipids with Omega-3s EPA and DHA, Choline and Astaxanthin.
In krill oil, the majority of the EPA and DHA omega-3s are bound to phospholipids. In contrast, other marine oil omega-3s, like fish oil, have EPA and DHA bound to triglycerides or ethyl-esters.
What is a phospholipd?

THE MOLECULE OF LIFE

The phospholipids are a unique family of fatty molecules which are distinct from the main fats in our diet (triglycerides) in both their structure and their role in the body. Phospholipids are considered as the building blocks of cell membranes, while triglycerides are used by the human body mainly as energy storage molecules.
Phospholipids are amphipathic molecules, meaning they have a water-soluble part, which enables them to function as components of biological membranes. This unique property also improves their absorption properties, leading to better absorption of omega-3 fatty acids. The ability of phospholipids to mix with water is also the reason why, unlike fish oil, krill oil does not cause a fishy aftertaste and fishy burps.

What ARE OMEGA-3 EPA and DHA ?

ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS

EPA and DHA are both omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown, in numerous studies, to enhance quality of life, lower the risk of premature death, and have a significant positive influence on human health due to a wide range of health benefits. Among these health benefits, cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention may be the best recognized. Other well-known functions and benefits of omega-3 include anti-inflammation and joint health, brain development, behavior, and mood. Omega-3 fatty acids seem to be vital throughout human life, from embryo development through childhood, adolescence, adulthood and the senior years.

what is choline?

A DIFFERENTIATOR IN KRILL OIL

Choline is an essential nutrient for human health, it is often not classified as a vitamin, but as a nutrient with an amino acid–like metabolism. Choline must be obtained from our diet as choline or as choline phospholipids, like phosphatidylcholine. Choline is vital for many body functions, such as nerve signaling, liver and muscle functioning and is found naturally in K•REAL® krill oil, in the form of phosphatidylcholine.

What is Astaxanthin?

A POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANT

Astaxanthin, one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, naturally accumulates in Antarctic Krill, and accounts for krill oil's beautiful and natural red color. K•REAL® naturally contains astaxanthin that helps protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals. With naturally occurring astaxanthin, Krill oil supplements don’t need additives or preservatives to protect the oil from oxidation.

UNIQUE ADVANTAGES

EFFICIENT MECHANISM OF ACTION

K•REAL® krill oil is a phospholipid bound omega-3. The phospholipids in krill oil ensure superior transport, delivery, and integration of omega-3s into the cell’s bilayer.

NO FISHY BURPS

Consumption of K•REAL®krill oil is not accompanied by unpleasant fishy burps. This is  due to its phospholipid composition which mixes well with stomach contents, preventing fishy aftertaste and other unpleasant digestive issues associated with fish oil omega-3.

SMALLER CAPSULES

Phospholipids make krill oil’s omega-3s more bio-efficient and stable. This allows for smaller capsules when used in supplements.
